Requesting Materials

Help! The library doesn't have what I need.

If you've searched the catalog and find that Charlotte County does not own the title you want, we may be able to obtain a copy for you through a purchase request or interlibrary loan.

When we can, we'll buy the items you request and add them to our collection.

    Submit a purchase request for:
  • New titles less than one year old
  • Future releases
  • eBooks and eAudiobooks
  • Missing entries from a series we own

Interlibrary Loan

In other cases, we can borrow a copy from another library system in Florida.

    Use ILL when you're looking for:
  • Titles at least one year old
  • Books, audiobooks, DVDs, music CDs
  • Journal articles
  • Entries in a genealogy text

Items in our collection

If you'd like to join the waiting list for a title that's checked out, you can place a hold on it. You can also request that an available item be pulled from the shelf for you to pick up, or join the list for a title that's coming soon.

    place a hold onlineTo place a hold:

  1. Type the title, author, or other information in the search field and click Search.
  2. When you find an item you'd like, click the Place Hold button next to the item on the right.
  3. Enter your library card and PIN number and specify the pickup branch from the dropdown menu. Click Place Hold(s).
  4. The library will notify you by phone, e-mail or text when the items are available for pick-up.
  5. Please pick up your items within 7 days or notify the library that you cannot pick them up.
