Ruth Henrietta Brown, Daughter of George Brown

Ruth Henrietta Brown was the only child of George Brown, owner of Cleveland Marine Steam Ways, and his first wife. Brown's first wife's name is unknown; she is thought to have died in childbirth in 1892. Ruth H. Brown was born October 24, 1892 and died of tuberculosis August 30, 1905.

Peter E. Buchan

This undated studio portrait is of Peter E. Buchan, an early settler in Englewood. He and his wife, Florence Jerome Buchan, built Buchan's Landing, a general store and post office with living quarters upstairs. Along with being a merchant, storekeeper and postmaster, Peter Buchan was appointed district representative upon the formation of Sarasota County in 1921 and served as a county commissioner for 18 years.
Methodist Organist, Amy McQueen

This photo is a copy showing Amy Holderby McQueen (Mrs. D. Norman McQueen) seated at the organ in the First United Methodist Church in Punta Gorda. The church organ had been donated by Dr. and Mrs. McQueen in 1921 and Mrs. McQueen, a graduate of the Cincinnati Music Conservancy, served as the church organist for 42 years. The photo was taken during a presentation honoring Mrs. McQueen for her dedication; standing at right is Esther Oswald Jordan (later McCullough), who spoke at the event. The vase at far right holds 42 red roses, one for each year of Mrs. McQueen's service.
