Animal-loving children who've longed for a pet each get their wish in these chapter books. Each formulaic book follows a similar plot structure that involves a neat ending of owner reuniting with pet. The third-person narratives inconsistently include the thoughts of the protagonist and the animal friend, and the bland pencil illustrations add little to the stories.
