Description
This c.1896 cigar workers' cottage was the home of Elnora Mays Puckett, whose father, Cleve Mays, had purchased two cottages from the El Palmetto Cigar Factory in the early 1900s and had them moved to Brown Street. Mrs. Puckett had lived in this house for her entire life. At the time of this photo, the property had been sold to a developer, who donated the structures to the Punta Gorda Historical Society. Parts from the second cottage (at 213 Brown Street) were used to restore this one. It is now located in the Punta Gorda History Park on Shreve Street.
