This undated photo shows the first phase of the Punta Gorda Mall, buillt in the early 1960s on the site of the Hotel Punta Gorda, which was lost to fire in 1959. Part of the former hotel grounds can be seen in the lower right corner. The Punta Gorda Mall was undergoing renovation in 2004 when Hurricane Charley, a Category 4 storm, demolished the remaining structures.
