Requesting Materials
Help! The library doesn't have what I need.
If you've searched the catalog and find that Charlotte County does not own the title you want, we may be able to obtain a copy for you through a purchase request or interlibrary loan.
Purchase Request
When we can, we'll buy the items you request and add them to our collection.
- Submit a purchase request for:
- New titles less than one year old
- Future releases
- eBooks and eAudiobooks
- Missing entries from a series we own
Interlibrary Loan
In other cases, we can borrow a copy from another library system in Florida.
- Use ILL when you're looking for:
- Titles at least one year old
- Books, audiobooks, DVDs, music CDs
- Journal articles
- Entries in a genealogy text
Items in our collection
If you'd like to join the waiting list for a title that's checked out, you can place a hold on it. You can also request that an available item be pulled from the shelf for you to pick up, or join the list for a title that's coming soon.
- Type the title, author, or other information in the search field and click Search.
- When you find an item you'd like, click the Place Hold button next to the item on the right.
- Enter your library card and PIN number and specify the pickup branch from the dropdown menu. Click Place Hold(s).
- The library will notify you by phone, e-mail or text when the items are available for pick-up.
- Please pick up your items within 7 days or notify the library that you cannot pick them up.
